Our story begins with Poh Leong, which was started by Mr
Lim Long Huat in 1996. At its time of inception, the company
had only three staff members and concentrated mainly on contract
works, as demand for design services had not yet reached its
peak. Thanks to the exemplary quality of professionalism and
services standard, the company¡¯s reputation grew
graciously ever since, catering to the discerning tastes of
the younger crowd and address the growing trend for designer
homes. In 1988 there was new addition to the family, with
the creation of other associate companies namely City Design,
City Living , Just Design and Ching Yap C Y Design.
This period also marked the increase in the number of showrooms
in IMM. The existing Poh Leong showroom in IMM was now joined
by another 4 showrooms together with 1 new showroom at Parkway
Parade .
In the year 2000 City Design began placing emphasis on the
marketing, promoting its family image and exhibiting its products
and services. To this ends, a team of 60 staffs was established.
Of the interior designers in this group, 90 percent were fully
qualified in their area of expertise, while the rest boasted
considerable experience in their field. Part of the outreach
programme was the setting up of a show flat at Hillview, representing
an investment for the benefits of the company¡¯s
loyal customers. Designers are permanently stationed there
for professional consultation. City Design has also achieved
ISO qualification, which ensures quality control, bolster
market confidence in the company and guarantees continued
experience in performance.
For City Design and all its associates, clients have been
and will continue to be top priority. Hence the teams are
handpicked by Mr. Lim himself not simply for their knowledge
and technical skills, but also for their positive, driven
and customer-orientated attitude.
